THIS is how a series should end.

This - THIS - is everything a series ender should be. There was danger and mystery and angst and some of the best romantic moments ever. Reclaim Me was the best way to close the book on Alessandra and Hudson's story.

After a crazy cliffhanger at the end of Release Me, I went into Reclaim Me feeling a bit trepidatious. Allie's horrible ex had cornered her, both literally and figuratively. She had very real reason to fear for both hers and Hudson's lives.

Now, see, I'm always a big fan of communication. I hate it when characters make decisions for their loved ones out of some misplaced sense of protection. They martyr themselves and become miserable, when, if they had just explained how they felt or what was going on and approached the problem together, it all could've turned out better for everyone. Allie had the perfect opportunity to act in that way here, and for awhile I thought I'd spend the entire book being frustrated at her actions and lack of trust in Hudson's ability to help her handle the situation.

However, Allie was an amazingly awesome heroine. She remembers how badly she functioned without Hudson in her life, and decides to not repeat past mistakes. And, thus, she and Hudson set out together to try and thwart Julian's plans and still remain together. Which is not an easy feat when it seems that Julian has them bested at every turn.

Julian was a truly loathsome man. There was not one single redeeming quality about him. Never once did he show remorse for his actions or any true affection for Allie. It made it easy to hate him. He was a great villain.

The shining star in Reclaim Me was Hudson, though. This dreamy man knows how to woo a woman. And, when that woman is THE woman, it's even better. Reclaim Me is told in dual POV, so we get to hear both Allie's and his thoughts on the events as they are unfolding. We witness Hudson's intense frustration at his inability to fix things right away. We witness his continually growing feelings for Allie, which I promise you will make you swoon HARD. And, we witness Hudson in full alpha mode as he wrangles the people around him and works his angles to help the woman he loves.

I really loved the fleshing out of the side relationship between Hudson's brother Nick and Allie's BFF Harper. Nick has come a very long way since book 1, and he's now a reliable source of advice and comfort for his big brother. And, Harper has always been Allie's voice of reason. Together, Nick and Harper are just what Allie and Hudson needed in this really difficult time.

Despite how nail biting Reclaim Me was, I was so sad to see Allie's and Hudson's story come to a close. It was a crazy, sexy, exciting ride, though, and one that I really enjoyed.

I love to read trilogies and The Chasing Fire Trilogy immediately skyrocketed to the top of my 2015 favorite books list. You see Ann Marie and Amy created this amazing series that captivated me from the very start. Their muse or inspiration for their male protagonist Hudson, was David Gandy. Enough said. Wow! I’m a Gandy girl and I will tell you, he is the perfect Hudson. Trust me, this is a series I am sure you will love.

Reclaim Me is the final book in this trilogy. This book picks up where the last book leaves you, hanging and full of angst. Alessandra and Hudson are in France. Harper, Allie’s best friend has flown to meet her there. And, the arrogant French ass Julian is back with his own agenda for Allie and Hudson.

Once back in Chicago, Allie and Hudson have plenty to deal with. Julian is making sure Allie complies with his plan. Many revelations are made along the way. Lets just say, life becomes more complicated for Allie and Hudson. (no spoilers)

Allie wants to protect Hudson and Nick while Hudson wants to protect Allie.

Hudson continues to be the commanding alpha male I love so much while still showing a lighter and more humorous side. Look out for some fun and sexy text messages along the way too. Hudson also knows how to romance his lady. Yes, Hudson even dabbles in poetry. He will stop at nothing to show his love for Allie.

One of the reasons why I enjoyed this book so much is because all of the secondary characters stand out. We learn more about them and ultimately love them more. They truly play important roles in Hudson and Allie’s lives. They help to make this story complete.

Nick, Hudson’s brother is on the right track. And, if you made the same prediction I made in Release Me, you’ll be thrilled to learn more about his personal/love life in this book. His relationship with Hudson is stronger as well. I loved the sibling bonding, especially a certain bow tie scene. I’d love to read more about Nick in another book. (Please)

Collin, Allie’s assistant proves to be a great friend too. He’s always had Allie’s back and turns out to be an invaluable and trustworthy employee as well.

Harper, the bff. She’s sassy and full of life. I’ve always loved her and I was excited to see how her personal life unfolded as well. Let’s just say, Harper and Allie have similar taste in men.

Prepare yourself for a thrill ride through Chicago. You’ll find adventure, love, angst, humor, hope, romance, revelations from the past, friendship, an adorable puppy, and lots and lots of steamy sex in this final book.

Will Allie and Hudson find their happily ever after?

Writing this review was bittersweet and difficult. I didn’t want Hudson and Allie’s story to end and at the same time, I wanted to share the story with you. But, I can’t spoil it. You will have to get the book/series and read for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

I loved all of the books in this series. However, Reclaim Me is my favorite. The intensity of their love, their passion and unwavering pursuit for a happy ending makes this such a spectacular read.

Chasing Fire Series has it ALL!

I really really really want to tell you how this series ends. I've been holding it in for so long, I'm about to burst with excitement to dish with someone! But, let me just say, I couldn't be any happier with this ending....

Hudson Chase had always feared that his past would be his downfall. He's spent years working tirelessly to outrun his youth and create a whole new world in which he would be the victor. He would be powerful. Hudson Chase would be in control of his future. And, his idea of the future has always included Allie Sinclair.

Now that Hudson has had a glimpse of what his future with Allie could be; he refuses to settle for anything less. But, protecting those you love can be a difficult task when the skeletons start to spill out of your closet. Hudson is a fixer. He is certainly not accustomed to allowing others to fight his battles. Allie wants nothing more than to save Hudson; even if it's from himself. This book finds Hudson and Allie torn apart, but they're also together. They are united to defeat a common enemy. And, they're both willing to sacrifice their own future and their own happiness for the other.
The Chasing Fire series has it ALL: romance, angst, steam, adventure, more steam, plot twists, a kick-ass hero, an smarmy villain, a deserving heroine and inspiring LOVE!

A edgy and raw MUST READ book for anyone who is dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. There is HOPE.

A dark raw glimpse into the drug and alcohol lifestyle most people never experience or understand. I laughed, cried and grieved as I read about Garvar's life, the abuse he endured and the path he traveled to get where he is today. Few survive the drug and alcohol addicted lifestyle that he lived without permanent scars on your soul, even fewer make it out alive. I applaud and praise Garvar for the battle he fought to gain his humanity back from the edge of the dark abyss he lived his life on. This book will shock you, make you laugh, cry and finally give you hope for anyone you know who struggles with the anger and betrayal caused by childhood abuse, the cycle of drug and alcohol addiction and the damage it causes. I'm so proud of you Garvar!!

Anyone who would like a better understanding of the grips of addiction and ...

Unbelievably raw and uncensored look into the reality of addiction. Mr. Brummett holds you captive with the intensity of his stories and travels through addiction. Anyone who would like a better understanding of the grips of addiction and alcoholism would benefit immensely from reading this book. The illustrations are incredible and made me feel like I was getting to know the author. I liked the idea of reading short stories in this book, the only problem was that I could not put it down. It would be nice to see this book in every alcohol and drug treatment center across the country. If you like books like "Hardcore Zen" by Brad Warner, you will love "The Scent of Jasmine Cools the Rage" by Garvar Brummett. This is a must read.

Life changing

I've tried for days to come up with a review but everything I write just seems so trivial and doesn't do justice to the words within these pages. I couldn't just let myself say "Great Book!"

This book is not for the faint of heart. The anger...no...rage, desperation, humor, hopelessness,vileness, and hope are so intricately entwined that it's difficult to distinguish the individual emotion within the pages, as well as within myself as I read. I would recommended this for those who struggle with addiction themselves and that they may find hope. I recommend it for those who have no clue, such as myself. The struggle and horror of daily life for some people is appalling and heart-wrenching. I am encouraged to get off my ass and find some way to make a difference even if it's a simple bucket of chicken.

The language! The language is horrific! But without it, I cannot imagine it would have invoked the deep emotion I feel when reading these stories. This is a true look into the challenges of homelessness and addiction. These stories will make you laugh, cry, and simply feel stunned in horror and shame. This is not a book by a man who spent time studying and researching the topic; this man lived in those deep dark trenches. His knowledge is something one rarely sees in written form. This is not a book based on opinions and statistics but true, real life experiences. You will find a level of understanding of how people can be so...vile. This book will invoke a plethora of emotions throughout. It's not all horrifying, at times, I found myself laughing so hard my eyes slammed shut!! I found a real-life awakening for myself, having had little to no exposure to the darker side of life. I found a level of compassion within me that I rarely, if ever, have seen. My heart breaks for this man whose "normal" life was something that I've never considered possible, even by the strongest of humans -- never considered as real, actually. Who lives a life like that and survives? Knowing that he is a success story and he made it though all of that, gives me hope for his continued successes and for humanity.

Thank you Garvar. Your bravery to open yourself up and put your demons out there for the world to see (and judge) is the truest indication of hope and pride. Your courage and tenacity for a positive outcome in your life will surely be a light for others as well. I hope there is more to come. Keep on, Motherf***er!!

About the Author
Nic Beech is Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Professor of Management at the University of St Andrews, Vice Chair of the British Academy of Management and Lead Fellow of the UK Advanced Institute of Management. He has undertaken significant projects funded by the ESRC, EU and industry partners and his five previous books include Human Resource Management: A Concise Analysis (with E. McKenna, 2008) and Managing Creativity (with B. Townley, Cambridge, 2010). He presents regularly to professional and business executives and teaches at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Robert MacIntosh is Chair in Strategic Management at the University of Glasgow Business School. He has worked with a range of FTSE-listed businesses, large public organizations and many small to medium sized firms. In recent years, he has co-chaired the Action Research SWG of the European Group for Organization Studies, been a member of Council for the British Academy of Management and has been appointed as a visiting professor at Edinburgh Business School. Originally trained as an engineer, he has over twenty years experience of teaching and researching change management.

Certainly well written, yet to point that some of the sentence structure seem to be overly complex or just too grammatically correct to the chagrin of my students who are ESL (English as a Second Language) students in Hong Kong. They found the book rather hard to comprehend on many occasions.
Vignette kind of in-text examples would also help in the illustration of of concepts discussed. There could also be an emphasis or a lead-in chapter on the fact that managing change in the conext of the book is mainly on the implemenation (i.e. operational strategies, latching onto the popular book of Exploring Strategy by Jonhson and Scholes) of strategic plans. This last point is the way we make use of the textbook in in the second part of our two-semester course.

Chester Brown lives in Toronto, where he ran for parliament in the general election as a member of the Libertarian Party of Canada. He is the author of I Never Liked You, Louis Riel, and Paying for It.

good early work by Chester Brown

I discovered Chester Brown with his 2011 book "Paying For It." The trade was so well done that I ended up buying a lot of his other work (as well as Joe Matt's (who appeared in different sections of "Paying For It")). Brown's "I Never Liked You" is an honest look back at an early teenage relationship that takes place around the same time that Chester's mother dies. "Louis Riel" is about Western Canadian history in the mid to late 19th century, and is an absolutely stunning piece of writing and history.

Brown wrote "The Playboy" in the early 90's, and it has been put together and released as a comprehensive trade for the first time in ten years. Chester is exceedingly insightful and honest -- he is the ultra-rare autobiographer who does not attempt to cover up his flaws in order to have his readers view him more favorably. He puts pen to paper (just the facts), bares his soul and tells a story.

This story is about his love of Playboy magazine, and how he felt guilty each time after buying it. He would bury them in the woods or burn them, but then inevitably he would go out and buy the next issue. He details how Playboy shaped him sexually (both good and bad). Like his other work, he provides detailed endnotes.

Short and honest, but not groundbreaking

I read this super-short graphic memoir because I enjoyed the author's Paying for It earlier this year. This one centres around the shame and guilt that the author felt when enjoying Playboy magazine as a teenager in the 1970s. I feel bad for teenaged boys before the internet. But the basic concept, while sad, wasn't nearly as thought-provoking as that of Paying for It, where Brown decides to start hiring prostitutes. There were some amusing moments, like when he tries to burn a magazine in the family living room, but finds that it only blackens, and then his little brother walks in, and the author has to pretend that he's just playing with the fire while he's actually burning each page separately (and then he can't sleep from worrying that the charred spine might still be recognizable). But mostly I just felt bad for him, which might have been what he was going for. One of his girlfriends describes a friend's porn use as "disgusting" and says that it makes him a "pig". So then Brown can't even be fully honest or confident in his own relationships, but always feels like he has something to hide. I guess this helps me see why he ended up taking the route he did later in life, preferring prostitutes to girlfriends. But there's nothing really revelatory here.

This refers to the 3rd edition which arrived today, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at my home. I had ordered the first 2 editions via ILL (Inter-Library Loan) and am most interested in the new stuff he threw in this latest edition.

I already know it's too wordy for me and makes for dry academic reading. I'm primarily interested in stats, women's issues, health issues, the anointed, and other similar topics relevant to me.

I will update this review AFTER I'm done looking through my latest purchase AND only IF I feel like it.

Grade 3 Up. A lonely, elderly woman visits the park each day, where she notices a lonely boy, who sits on the bench by her. He is silent, watching the other children play. The unhappy youngster reminds her of her own childhood when she was comforted by a special closeness with her grandfather. She especially enjoyed her grandfather's stories, including one regarding a stone she'd found. Her grandfather calls it a worry stone, and spins a tale around it involving the Chumash people. When her grandfather dies, the child remembers it and is comforted. Now an old woman, she shares the stone and its stories with the boy on the bench. This sincere effort has a heavy touch. The telling is marred by an excess of sentiment and cliches (e.g., a "hacienda on the edge of time"). Gerig's watercolor illustrations are pretty, but overly romanticized, awash in lovely if unlikely color. Dengler's tale itself is profound and moving, if less than convincing. Gr. 3^-5. An original folktale in the spirit of the peaceful Chumash tribe of California centers this masterful picture book for older children. Spinning off from that tale are two other generation-linking stories. Amanda, an old woman, enjoys watching children play in the park but is troubled by a sad-faced child who silently shares her bench. Finally the boy tells her that the other children say he is too little to play with them. The boy's hurt reminds Amanda of her own childhood, and thus begins the second story. No one in her large family on the hacienda had time to play with her, no one except Grandfather. The highlight of their days together was the stories Grandfather shared. One was inspired by a shiny, smooth stone Amanda picked up on their morning walk. Calling her find a worry stone, Grandfather told her the story of the Indian bride Tokatu's tears for her dead husband--tears that became stones and, when rubbed slowly and thoughtfully, the stones seemed to ease the holder's troubles. Amanda didn't put much stock in her stone's powers until Grandfather died. Then she found that rubbing it brought back fond memories of Grandfather and soothed her pain. Amanda gives that same worry stone to the boy. Such a gift requires an explanatory story, which, in turn, leads to friendship between the old woman and the child, bringing full circle the power of storytelling to bridge and bond the generations. The poignant, heartwarming story is lyrically written and is illustrated with equal eloquence. Three stories nest together but never mesh in this sentimental picture-book debut. An old woman--in a floppy hat with a red feather--sits in the park daily, and a small boy, ignored by his peers, sits with her in silence. She recalls the loneliness of her own childhood, assuaged by her grandfather, a storyteller. When she brought him an unusual stone she had found, Grandfather told her the Chumash legend of the worry stone: If it is rubbed gently, ``the worry goes away.'' The old woman gives her stone to the boy, with a story and a promise of more stories to come. Dengler notes she invented the Chumash legend at the center of the story; it's one in a series of contrivances that the gentle tone fails to disguise. This book has become one my family's favorites - hard to read without a catch in your voice. A story about the circle of life and the importance of grandfather/grandmother figures in a child's life. I cannot recommend this book highly enough! Beautiful illustrations!

The Worry Stone By: Marianna Dengler

I thought this book was outstanding and it will bring color into any child's life. This book would be a high-quality book for any parent or older sibling to read to a younger child because of the wonderful pictures and inspiring story within its cover. Also, it is a story that you can make happen in your own yard.

This story is about an elderly lady named Amanda who as a child had a wonderful, caring grandfather. They would spend all their time together, telling stories and she was very fond of him. One day she discovers a stone her grandfather says is a worry stone and by rubbing it in your hand all your worries go away. Now, several years later, her grandfather has passed away. She goes for walks in the park all by herself and is awfully lonely. One day, a little boy comes and sits next to her. He too is lonely. No other kids would play with him and Amanda can't stand to see him sad. Then she gets an idea. The worry stone could help. Does it help, and do Jason and Amanda become friends, or will both of them be lonely and alone?

This book is very touching and will show kids that read this book compassion and understanding. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. You should defiantly read this book to a child who is about 3years old and up. See how touching it is for yourself.

One of our family's top five books

This story is a beautiful interweaving of three stories, a Native American woman who loses her husband in war, a girl's relationship with her grandfather, and an old woman who discovers how to reach a lonely child that she has seen in the park. It is a gentle and lovely way to introduce to children the concept of death and a chance to discuss the value of the people we love in our lives and to understand the feelings of others. The story is wonderful in itself, but the illustrations make it even more so. They seem to glow with an inner light.

Not what the title suggests

I bought this book reading The title - 'how gujratis do business'. However this book is not what the title suggests. It doesn't tell you how they do business but it's a compilation of stories of few businessmen and milestones they achieved. The book clearly misses how they achieved these milestones, which is what I expected from this book after reading the title.

If you are looking to read some inspiring stories, you may like this book. But like me, if you expect to get some insight into the qualities and business acumen of Gujratis, you will be highly disappointed.

nothing special about the gujrati way of business

the challenges faced and overcome by the (gujarati) business men described in this book are no different from any other typical indian entrepreneur. the book doesn't bring forth anything that is unique to gujaratis.(not with standing the fact that gujaratis are known for being business minded).

Author failed to point the lack of concurrent corporate culture and existence of predominantly proprietary form of governance in most of gujarati(and gujarat centric) business firms(even very large ones). this is very evident especially in knowledge based sector.

we don't hear people from backward states of india going to gujarat to search for employment, which indicates that gujarat development is not benefitting india and and rest of indians much. the salaries paid by these firms are known to be below par.

youth from various states go to mumbai, delhi, pune, bangalore to get in into well paying jobs but rarely to gujarat for employment.

Deep India & Gujarat.

I lived 3 months in India while on exchange at IIML.
This books was recommended by one of my professors and I can assure you is completely worth it to start understanding the mega complex dynamics of this country.
Gujarat is a state with entrepreneurial blood. The way they live and carry on businesses is really inspirational.
However, don't think your "homework" will be done by reading just this book. You should add some more authors just to get a glimpse of this vibrant economy.
An absolute must to start entering India businesses.
